Rappahannock County is special — no stop lights, no shopping centers — just beautiful Blue Ridge vistas, rolling farmland, gourmet restaurants, challenging hikes, and plentiful antiques (not necessarily in that order!). The following is a very short list of activities you might enjoy before or after your visit to Sharp Rock Vineyards:
Old Rag Mountain and White Oak Canyon
Located just a mile away from Sharp Rock Vineyards, Old Rag Mountain is the most-hiked mountain on the East Coast and one of the most popular hiking mountains in the entire Blue Ridge. First time hikers can travel to White Oak Canyon Falls for an easy sojourn. Little Devil Stairs attracts more experienced climbers. After your hike, stop at the Sharp Rock tasting room for a glass of refreshing Sauvignon Blanc! Our cottages are the closest accommodations to Old Rag.
Shenandoah National Park
The park occupies a third of Rappahannock County and provides endless opportunities for hiking and peaceful enjoyment of nature. You can explore the cool mountain streams, rivers, caves and spectacular views on various hiking trails.
If you have not visited these caverns, it should be a priority to witness this natural miracle for yourself. Luray offers an astounding hedge maze, gifts, historical memorabilia and much more.
Thornton River Grille
Located in the middle of Sperryville, just 8 miles from Sharp Rock, Thornton River Grille has a great range of selections and prices.
Sharp Rock Vineyards is included in two of Virginia's most scenic wine trails. Discover Shenandoah — Blue Ridge Whiskey Wine Loop includes wineries, a Whiskey distillery, eateries and other high-interest features along the way. The Blue Ridge Whiskey Wine Loop is a convenient travel plan along country roads in the Northern Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Foothills Scenic Wine Trail, nestled between Old Rag Mountain and White Oak Canyon at the edge of Shenandoah National Park, features two small, family-run wineries in gorgeous mountain settings — DuCard Vineyards and Sharp Rock Vineyards. We both have a variety of events throughout the year and are about 10 minutes up the road from each other.
